Purple Water-Spotted Nail Art!

Hi guys!

Today I have the waterspotted technique to show you. It's a technique that I've really wanted to try for a while and I used this tutorial for it. I didn't have any spray hand sanitizer so I used body spray instead, which I think worked well enough.

The base colour is three coats of Barry M Jelly - Prickly Pear and I used Barry M - Vivid Purple to finish the design.

It took little getting used to and I feel that some of my nails didn't turn out as well as the others but it's quite good for a first try right? :) I will definatly be trying this technique again and I'm looking forward to trying out different colour combinations!

What do you think of this design? Have you tried it before?

All In One Mani!

Hey everyone? Have you entered our giveaway yet?! It ends in 10 days, so click here to enter!

Now, I was in Primark the other week and they were selling packs of their nail varnishes, and included were a minty green, dark blue, bluey purple and a blue glitter! I obviously brought it, because it was an offer I couldn't refuse and I have yet to try their polishes!

As soon as I got in, I wanted to do some kind of design with one of the varnishes, but then I thought why couldn't these be combined together?! So I did exactly that! Check out what it looks like, after the jump!

Maybelline Colour Show Polka Dot Limited Edition Polishes!

To start off with, sorry for not posting for over a week now! I've being getting loads of posts ready for you guys!

So I recently went into Superdrug, while shopping last week, just to see if anything new had come out, as you do, and I stumbled across these amazing Gelly Glitter polishes from the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dot range! I had to instantly buy one because they were LIMITED EDITION and they were just gorgeous! I also think that these are the only Gelly/Glitter polishes that Maybelline have done, so I wasn't sure what they would be like!

This is the one I chose., which is appropriately named "Rain Forest Canopy" which as you can see, is a green Gelly, with large, medium and small white and black, hexagonal pieces suspended in it! The other three polishes that are in this range are a blue, pink and black Gelly, with the same glitter pieces that this green one.

Check out what this looks like on my nails, after the jump!

Spots & Stripes

Hiya guys how are you all?

Did the first part of the title remind you of the Cadbury's bars when the did the Spots vs. Strips chocolate?! I've only just realised that!

Anyway, this post might seem a little strange but it's inspired by the fact that I LOVE duvet covers. I love all the different pattern that you can get along with colours that are on them too and I must have over 10 sets for my one double bed! So I thought that what a good way to get inspiration, when I was sleeping under such a pretty pattern!

Here is what it looks like and this is what fuelled this post!

I love the colours that this duvet has on it as they go really well, and the design is so simple but lovely at the same time!

First Experiment with Striping Tape!

I ordered my first packs of striping tape last month from here, and they finally arrived last week! Yay for me! So straightaway I couldn't wait to experiment different designs and colours because, let's be honest, they're endless!

Here is what I came up with this week!

Peachy News!

Hey guys! Happy Sunday!

We told you we wouldn't leave you for too long didn't we?! We just got to that stage where we needed to give our nails and ourselves a bit of a rest!

Anyway, today for you I have some newspaper nails! I know that the technique is a bit old now, but ever since our first try (which you can see by clicking here) we've been wanting to try different colours for the background, other than the traditional white version!

We think its such a nice and simple design to do on your nails as it looks interesting and effective, and it takes hardly anytime to do!

Many Apologies...

Hello beauts!

This post is just to say that we are both deeply sorry that we haven't made any posts for you for about a week.

The main reasons consist of exams coming up and our nails are not in the best condition at the moment (probably due to all the stress and nervousness of our exams!)

Anyway, we are very sorry for this inconvenience, but we will try and be back up and running by the weekend!

But in the next few months, we will be doing lots of swatches, reviews, nail designs and our first ever UK giveaway so make sure you don't miss them!

Bye till next time!

Nail Wrap Alternative

Hiya!

I came up with this design quite randomly actually! I was thinking about different designs to do like the feather design, seeing as I didn't have any in my house, and then I came up with this!

Can you guess what helped me to make this?

Splatter Tutorial

Hi! How is everyone?

I've got a splatter mani tutorial for you today.

I'm a bit disappointed with how this turned out as it's the third time I've done a splatter mani and it's actually the worst one I've done!

The Toothbrush Method

Hiya, hope you are enjoying your weekend! This is just a fun design that will hopefully brighten up your week, if you try it yourself, seeing as it's Monday tomorrow (boo!)

This method of nail art isn't my creation (even though I wish it was!) I got it off The Nailasaurus, who has a fantastic blog, that you can visit by clicking here. If you know of her already, pat on the back for you!

If you haven't see this design already, or don't know where to find  it, click on Tutorials along the top of her page and you will see the toothbrush method that she came up with. I really wanted to try it so here it is:

Leopard Print!

Hi! How is everyone?

Today I have some leopard print nails for you! This has always been my favourite animal print and I knew as soon as I had painted my nails with Barry M - Lychee that it would make the perfect base colour for it.

Lychee is part of Barry M's Gelly range and is a light nude colour. I needed two coats for full opacity. I used No. 17 - Fury, Barry M - Black and a small dotting tool to complete the design.

What do you think of this design? Have you tried leopard nails before? If you want to see our other attempt at this design, click here!

Rimmel London Swatch!

Hello! We haven't done any proper swatches for you guys in ages!

So I thought I would do one on the only polish that I have from Rimmel London!

It's number 198 and its called Azure! This is a very unusual name, don't you think?! So I searched it's definition, and it's something that's dark blue, sometimes purple!

Here is a picture of the polish on my nails, so you can decide if it's purple colour!

Caviar With A Difference!

Happy Sunday!

So I was having a think of what I could do next for you guys and I was thinking over a couple of ideas, but then I went into Poundland again. I promise I'm not always in there, even though it might seem like that!

These caught my eye instantly!

"Caviar!" They are in small bottles which makes them so cute and the colours (I thought), were amazing!

So I had to do a design with them! Because there isn't a lot of these little beads in one particular colour, I knew I couldn't put them over all of my nails, like you usually would with this type of nail art, and even if I only covered two nails on each hand, I would have used all or most of the caviar up!

I then came up with this design:

One Direction Nail Art!

Hey people!

I went to see One Direction perform at the O2 arena yesterday and they were amazing! If you don't know who One Direction are...have you been living under a rock? They're basically the biggest boy band in the world at the moment and they sound awesome!

Anyway, on to the nail art:

I chose different designs to represent the five different boys in the band. The thumb represents Harry Styles and his love of cats.

The mirror on my index finger is for Zayn Malik as he's the 'vain' one in the band.

For my middle finger I painted a spoon with a red cross for Liam Payne because of his phobia of spoons (weird I know but he's adorable).

The design on my ring finger is supposed to represent Louis Tomlinson's signature look - stripy t-shirt and red bottoms with suspenders.

Finally, the Irish flag on my little finger nail is for Niall Horan (the only Irish member of the otherwise British band).

They aren't as good as they could be as I rushed slightly and didn't leave the base colours to dry for long enough (oops) but I think they came out alright.

What do you think?

Glittery Blue!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a nice Easter and more importantly, received and ate loads of chocolate?!

I have a nail polish for you, which I knew I wanted to try it straight away! I used Avon - Vintage Blue (which I used in this nail design!) It's a very light shade of blue, and in my opinion its very suited for spring and even summer and I think I will be wearing a lot more of it :-)

Here is what it looks like on its own:

Easter Nails!

Happy Easter!

How is everyone? Hope you've all got lots of chocolate eggs to eat!

Today's design is inspired by Easter:

I used two coats of Barry M - Ridley Road for the base colour of my nails then used a small paintbrush and Barry M - Yellow to paint the chick on my accent nail. I waited until the chick was completely dry then used Vie - Apricot for the beak and Barry M - black for the eyes.

Catch-up & Easter Nail Art!

Hello everyone! It's Dee here :-)

Sorry for not posting some of my own stuff recently! I've been quite busy and my nails have been quite bad, so I've had to give them a rest for a while!

However as you probably know from Li, we went to see a band called Lawson on Saturday the 16th of March! If you know who they are - high five!

They are a UK band and have their own You Tube channel so if you want, check them out click here!

So, I decided to do a gradient on my nails for the concert and it was my first time doing it! This was probably why it didn't look very good! I will practise and do a gradient for you all soon!

I then decided to put Lawson's logo design over my nails as its quite easy! Below is a picture for you lovely people!

I used Collection 2000 Hot Looks - Bongo Beat, Avon - Peppermint Leaf and Barry M black for the Lawson logo across my nails!

So because its nearly Easter (for the UK - I'm not sure about everywhere else!), me and Li, thought that we better do some Easter inspired designs, in case you wanted to have something on your nails over the Easter period!

So here is a picture of my finished design, and I will tell you how to do it below!

Crackle & Sparkle

Hiya!

Today I have a very simple design using a purple crackle from Barry M's nail effects range.

with topcoat

I used two coats of Outdoor Girl - Sparkling Nail Polish in Blue (though it just looks silver on the nail) as the base colour for all my nails, except my accent nails which I painted with two coats of Barry M - Vivid Purple.

Then I took Barry M - Nail Effects 137 (this is a purple crackle the same shade as Vivid Purple) and painted one coat over the Outdoor Girl. I love the colours purple and silver together and I think these colours suit this effect really well. To finish my design I layered one coat of Barry M - Silver Glitter onto my accent nails.

Let me know what you think of this design?

Music Notes!

OMG we saw Lawson yesterday! They were amazing! (if you don't know who Lawson are, Google them right now!) :)

So anyway todays nails are the ones I did for yesterday - music notes :)

Left Hand

I used Barry M - Vivid Purple for the nail colour and used Finishing Touches Nail Art Pen in Silver for the notes. I didn't want to over do it with the music notes so I settled for a treble clef on my left thumb, a double music note on the right thumb and a single music note on each of my accent nails.

Right hand

The nail art pen was easy to work with, though two coats gave a better silver than just one, and the silver against the dark purple made the design really stand out. This nail art was so simple and easy to achieve :)

Let me know what you think?

Watercolour Nail Art Tutorial!

Today I'm going to show you how to create the watercolour effect on your nails!

I only saw how to do this last week, and I really wanted to try it, as I think it looks really good!

Here is a picture of my finished nails...

Swatch - Barry M Gelly; Prickly Pear

Hi guys! Today I have a swatch of one of Barry M's Gelly nail polishes called Prickly Pear.

Prickly Pear is a light purple that is opaque in two coats (I used three for the pictures as I didn't leave the second coat to dry for long enough and smudged them). The polish has a great formula that applies with no streaks or patches.

Neon Tiger!

Today I have tiger print nail art for you, which is a very easy look to achieve! I used Vie - Apricot and Barry M - Black.

sorry for the poor quality the camera wasn't working so I had to use my phone :(

I started off with a clear basecoat to protect my nails and two coats of Apricot. When this was completely dry I used a small paintbrush and the black to paint on the tiger stripes. Start from the edges of the nail and gently draw the brush across the nail to create the stripes.

What do you think of this design? Hope to hear from you soon

Swatch - Collection 2000 Hot Looks; Bongo Beat!

Hey everyone! This swatch is going to be about the nail polish brand Collection 2000, and specifically the colour Bongo Beat! (What a great name huh?!)

Here is a picture of the bottle:

First of all, I wanted to do this swatch, because this brand its a bit chaper than Barry M, Max Factor etc. I wanted you all to know that there are cheaper, decent brands out in high street shops, and you don't always have to spend £7+ on a polish you might not like that much, just becasue its made by a well known company. I think that its so good to save a few pennies every now and again, especially when these chaper nail polishes work just as well!

Newspaper Nails!

Hey guys! This is a design that I've been wanting to try for ages and I finally got round to it!

Here are my newspaper nails with top coat:

Now most people will tell you that you need Vodka or a different type of alcohol for these nails to work but I created this design using water. All you have to do is paint your nails in a light colour of your choice (I used white but will be trying it with pastel colours in the future) and leave these to dry completely.

Have your newspaper cut into small rectangle shapes that are slightly larger than your nail and a small bowl of water ready. Then when your nails are dry dip one of the pieces of newspaper into the water, wipe off the excess water on the side of the bowl and carefully place on your nail. Make sure to press down as hard as you can (but be careful not to smudge it by accidentally moving it while it is on your nail). Make sure to place all the pieces of newspaper on your nails the same way or some could be upside down!

After a couple of minutes peel the newspaper off and the ink will have transferred to your nail! Make sure to seal your design with a top coat or the ink will smudge right off!

I wanted to see if this technique would work with a picture from the newspaper so I tried it with a Chelsea logo that was the perfect size (cause you know, Chelsea are awesome :P)

This is how it turned out (It's a lot more noticeable in real life! I couldn't get it to show up on the camera properly):

What do you guys think? Have you tried this before? Let us see your own newspaper nails!

Nail Art! - With Barry M; Silver Multi Glitter!

Triangle Nail Art!

Hello everyone! Today we have a nail art design for you that's quite easy and looks great!

This design was made using the taping technique, and if you haven't heard of it, it's when you use tape to create neat shapes and lines on your nails. This art only works if you have two completely different colours, with the top colour opaque in one coat. Here is a picture of my first try at this technique.

Swatch! - Nina; Purple Xing

Hi! For today's swatch we have Purple Xing by Nina, which I picked up at Sallys Beauty Supply.

This is two coats with top coat:

This polish is slightly runny so the first coat was a bit uneven but the second coat smoothed it out perfectly, two coats gave full opacity and there were no streaks or bald spots after the second coat was applied. It has a purple base colour with purple and blue micro glitter, (though the blue can only be seen in the right light) and medium sized holographic glitter. In normal light it just looks like a purple polish with silver glitter but when the sun came out it was amazing! I can't wait to try it out in summer when the sun is out all the time!

Spun Sugar Nail Art!

Hey guys :) so I saw the spun sugar technique for the first time the other day and I just had to try it! This is my first attempt:

Two coats of Barry M Black with Barry M Fuchisa strands
For those of you that haven't heard of this technique before it is when the second colour is draped over the nail in thin strands (though mine aren't that thin!). This is done by mixing some of the polish with a dotting tool or toothpick (I used a toothpick and this could be the reason my strands were too thick) until the nail varnish thickens and becomes stringy. Then using the toothpick you lift the varnish up and over the nail.

First Swatch! - China Glaze; Oxidized Aqua Crackle

Hiya! As you have probably gathered, this is our first ever swatch and its about this crackle nail varnish which is called Oxidized Aqua. I got it from Sally's Beauty Supply.

First of all, I  painted my nails with one coat of Barry M's Black nail varnish. As you might know, some of Barry M's nail polishes are quite gloopy and thick to put on. This was the case with the Black so there were a few streaks after it was applied, these were hidden by the crackle though so it wasn't too much of a problem.
