Splatter Tutorial

Hi! How is everyone?

I've got a splatter mani tutorial for you today.

I'm a bit disappointed with how this turned out as it's the third time I've done a splatter mani and it's actually the worst one I've done!

Click the jump for the tutorial.

Start by painting your nails with your chosen base colour, then leave until completely dry. This is two coats of Barry M - Black.

There are two ways to do the next step. You can take your polish and put some on a flat surface (that you don't mind getting dirty) and dip a straw in that, as seen in the photo above, or you can dip your straw straight in the polish bottle. Personally, I find the second way easier as it picks up the polish better. I used Collection 2000 Hot Looks - Bongo Beat as my second colour.

Be careful not to overload the straw with polish as this causes the polish to look like one big blob rather than splattered like it's supposed to.

Hold your straw above the nail and blow sharply to splatter the colour across your nail. It's most effective to use one quick breath. You could experiment with different distances, for different looks!

You can repeat this step as many times as you like using different colours to achieve different designs.

When it's dry finish with a topcoat to protect your design and give it some extra shine.

What do you think? Will you be trying out this technique anytime soon?
